Items

Items are the shared records behind products and materials. The live app separates the entry points into Products and Materials, but downstream inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, and sales workflows all resolve back to item records.

Item type is a creation-time decision. The item-card UI can change the family stock unit and mirror it to variants; treat that as an operational correction because existing inventory history remains in the unit used when it was posted.
